Garage Sale next weekend
But it's not your typical Garage Sale. I'm selling some stuff for a friend who needs some help and has 5 kids... long story. It's not knick nacks, old records, and ugly furniture...

I have a bunch of kids clothes - from 2T to teen clothes. Probably 4 large garbage bags worth. All of it is in almost new condition, lots of pre-teen girl stuff and younger boy stuff. Her kids are 1.5, 4, 5, 9, and 12 if that helps. Tons of back-to-school fall/winter clothing items and some summer stuff too. Some books too. That's about it.

I'm going to sell it all for $1 apiece.

Friday Oct 3rd from 9 to 1, Saturday Oct 4th from 9 to 2.

You can email me at Jenn @ Pfile . Net for the address...

FREE: Three Apple Laser Printers for parts or repair - Midtown
I have three Apple LaserWriter laser printers and a bunch of used
toner carts taking up space in my garage. They are old, "obsolete",
dirty, and not working that great (one not at all) but maybe you can
fix them up? Here's the rundown on each:

I'm going to start by offering these only to someone who will take
them all. I want my garage back! If no one is that brave I'll let them
go individually. Please reply to jdteffer@cox.net with your phone
number so I can get these out of here ASAP!

Thanks,

Human Powered Lawn Mower, 5 Blade 16" Reel - $30 - Midtown Omaha
Hey there. I bought this, thinking I'd get in shape and save the environment and all, but turns out I'm too lazy. My sloth is your gain, lists on Amazon.com for $100, yours for only $30. It has some light rust, mostly on the handle, but still seems to be in good sturdy shape. I pushed it around the lawn a little today and it made short work of the dry dead grass that we currently have. When the grass gets long and thick and lush and juicy though it becomes a workout to push:

SOLD! 1959 Wurlitzer Sideman - The First Drum Machine - AS-IS - $30
Edit: It has been SOLD, thanks for looking!

Wurlitzer made these from 1959 to 1965. The first commercial drum machine. A 75 lb. monstrosity full of wires, speakers, switches, glowing tubes and spinning wheels. Plays several beats, and lets you play each sound individually as well. This one mostly works, but has some problems, thus the low price.

Problem 1: The "Bass Drum" sound has a hum in it that overpowers the other sounds. I found that taping down the bass drum button stops the hum, but also stops the bass drum.

Problem 2: The main "start/stop" switch didn't work, so I opened the case and just taped an exposed relay together so it would run. (Maybe a burnt out coil on that relay?)

If those two problems were fixed I think it would be a nice working instrument. As it is it's an interesting piece of music history. $30 - Local buyers only please.

Here's a couple links to more info and pics on this beast:

Freecycle Alternative :: GigoIt!
Greetings,

I am writing to invite you to be a tester for our Freecycle Alternative, Non-Profit Company. We are currently looking for ALPHA and BETA testers for our new website. Here is everything you should need to know to see if you might be interested.

Thanks again!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Individuals and organizations are regularly faced with the problem of deciding what to do with items that still may be useful but that they no longer want. They can also find themselves suddenly in need of an item without being financially capable of purchasing it. GigoIt, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in Saint Louis, Missouri. We are currently developing a free public web space for individuals and corporations to donate and receive unwanted items within their neighborhoods. This keeps useful products out of landfills and fosters community involvement.

HERE IS WHAT GIGOIT HAS TO OFFER

* A single account to use nationwide. Access GigoIt services wherever you are.

* Results tailored to the proximity of a zip code that you specify.

* Communication filtering. Users may control the medium and frequency of messages.

* Search by category, date range, item status, photo inclusion and much more.

* Individual or Organization accounts. GigoIt is tailored to be convenient to all parties.

* No Moderators. The site is maintained organically by its users.

* GigoIt Rating System. To promote user trust and responsibility.

* Local Service portal. If GigoIt isn’t your donating solution, we’ll help you find what is.

Users are our focus. Research, focus groups, and our own experiences have fueled the development of and ideas behind GigoIt thus far. We believe that our site should be grown by the people who will be using it, and the users will heavily impact the direction and services GigoIt will provide.

THERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS TO HELP

We feel very strongly that our site should be grown by the people who will be using it. For this reason, we are asking for your input as we begin development with our site. Visit http://www.GigoIt.org and click the "Signup to be a part of GigoIt" link on the bottom of the page.

AWESOME FUNDRAISER TONIGHT!!
My apologies for the late notice! But if you are looking for something to do after you go out to dinner tonight, or before you head to the movie theater, head on over to UNO!

UNO's Women of Zeta Tau Alpha present...

What: Big Man On Campus (BMOC)
When: Saturday (tonight) Nov. 12, starts at 6:30pm
Where: UNO's Milo Bail Student Center (Ballroom)
How much: $3
Cause: ALL proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation

This is a male beauty pagent that includes things like Q&A, Swimsuit contest, and a talent portion. If nothing else, it is going to be hilarious to watch several guys make fools of themselves up on stage -- it's always a blast!

There will also be several raffles available, one of which I believe is a free spring break trip, but there are several gift certificates to places around town as well!!

Stop by, share some laughs, and support a good cause!
Thanks everyone!

Bright Eyes ticket
Hello, lovers.

I have an extra ticket for the sold out Bright Eyes show on November 11th, if anyone's interested. It's in the Gallery, Row N, Seat 2. I know it's a gallery seat, but I've been to lots of things at the Orpheum, and there's really not a bad seat in this theater, at least in my opinion. Most of the stuff I've seen there has been from the gallery. =o)

There's a cold, lonely seat at the Orpheum who needs a warm ass for a few hours this Friday. If you'd like to be that ass, you can email me at xemcats at cox dot net. The ticket was $26, so I'd like to at least get my money back. But, if there's more than one person interested I'll take the best offer.

Thanks guys.

Sweet Ghetto Blaster Boombox with Built-In Turntable! (eBay)
Well, this community is not going anywhere fast, so how about a new category of things allowed here? Things that are for sale on eBay that offer local free pickup in Omaha? I'll add it to the community rules unless anyone thinks of a reason why it's a terrible idea.

Anyway, what I've got on eBay is a JVC Boombox with a built in record player. It works great (except for the pause and music search on the tape deck) and you are going to have a hard time fining one of these beasts anywhere, especially locally, saving yourself the huge eBay shipping fees.

I want this to go to someone local, I'm not looking forward to packing/shipping it, so I'll give you a 10% discount off your winning bid if you can do a local boombox-handoff. See, living in Omaha has it's advantages!

Click the picture to go to the auction, thanks!
